Group Home

Overlooking peaceful Salem Harbor in an area known as Winter Island sits a refurbished, grand Victorian. It houses an important mission – providing stability and hope for youth who have had a history of abuse, neglect and emotional and/or behavioral challenges.

Through the course of a year, 24 boys between the ages of 13 and 18 reside at the Plummer Group Home. The boys are referred by the Department of Children and Families or the Department of Mental Health. They attend school in the community. Some hold down a job nearby. Those who do chores around the house earn an allowance.

At Plummer Youth Promise, we believe kids truly want to succeed but sometimes lack the skills needed to do so. Each young man helps develop his own treatment plan, which may include individual therapy where they work to process past traumas and group classes, where they can learn coping skills and conflict resolution. Using our Intervention Model, we do all we can to connect each resident with permanent family, prepare them to meet their own physical, emotional, educational and economic needs, and help them become a productive member of the community.
