live blue Ambassadors
The live blue™ Ambassador program is a service learning program for teens ages 14 to 18 who are interested in serving the Aquarium’s mission beyond the walls of the Aquarium.
Participants will take part in different types of service-learning opportunities, which may include habitat cleanup and restoration, public education and outreach, and citizen science. There is no limit to how many or how few events participants can attend. There is no fee to participate and, in most cases, transportation to the event is offered by the New England Aquarium. Participants will earn community service credits or service hours for their successful participation in the program. These community service credits, which are also known as volunteer or service credits, are needed to meet most high school graduation requirements.
Before you become an official live blue™ Ambassador, you must first attend a one-time, one-hour orientation at the Aquarium. Orientation dates and regularity vary by month, but they typically occur at least twice a month on a weekend day. During your orientation, you’ll learn more about the program, fill out your paperwork, meet the staff and other participants, receive your t-shirt, learn what kinds of projects we’ll be doing and much more!
To sign up for our mailing list and start receiving information and sign-up links for future live blue™ Ambassador events and orientations, participants must first complete our sign-up form.
Once the online intake survey is completed, interested participants will automatically be sent all future emails regarding live blue™ Ambassador opportunities. An email with upcoming event dates and/or links is sent out roughly every week. These emails include the date, time, location, and a brief description of the work that will be done during that event. Please note: The intake form is not a sign-up for any specific event.
